About Sonora Island Resort

Located on Sonora Island in Desolation Sound on beautiful British Columbia’s west coast, the resort is accessible by boat (water taxi from Campbell River takes approximately one hour), helicopter (50 minutes from Vancouver) or floatplane (also from Vancouver). The resort is surrounded by ocean and mountains – an idyllic location.

Explore the mouthwatering menus of executive Chef Lukas Gurtner and a wine cellar filled with excellent wines from British Columbia and abroad. The restaurant features great ocean views and its menu specialises in European cuisine but with a distinctive ‘west coast’ feel, including locally sourced seafood. Alternatively enjoy a more casual meal on the outdoor terrace where the grill serves hamburgers, steaks
and a selection of tapas. The wine cellar is stocked with the best wines from British Columbia and further afield while the lounge bar is a comfortable spot in which to enjoy a leisurely drink.

Enjoy a game of tennis, go for a hike or just relax in one of the outdoor mineral pools at the Spa and Wellness Centre. Accommodation rates include all gourmet meals, liquor and wine, beer, juice and soft drinks (additional charges may apply for premium spirits and wines) as well as complimentary wireless internet and unlimited worldwide phone calls. Also included is the use of all resort amenities including the outdoor heated pool, roof top hot tubs, mineral pools, movie theatre, fly-fishing ponds (equipment supplied), saunas, fitness centre, shuffleboard, pool and Xbox. Sonora’s luxurious lodges offer spacious guestrooms all very tastefully furnished. Gold rooms have either queen- or king-sized beds, sumptuous bathrooms, modern amenities and a complimentary bar fridge – spectacular ocean views provide the ‘finishing touch’.

Within each lodge there’s a comfortable common area with vaulted ceiling and a balcony overlooking the beautiful scenery.Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking, swimming,
archery lessons (for an additional charge) and tennis throughout their stay.
